Omaha Public Schools Leader is Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's Person of the Year

TurnquistWashington, DC - Dr. Antoinette Turnquist, Chief Operations Officer of Omaha Public Schools, was honored as Person of the Year by the Construction Management Association of America at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s National Conference & Trade Show on October 10. Presentation of the award capped an annual Ï㽶ÊÓƵ gathering that drew more than 1,200 professionals to Washington, DC.

The Person of the Year is an industry leader who has made significant contributions on behalf of the construction management industry and profession. Recent honorees include Thella Bowens of the San Diego Regional Airport Authority; Mark Webb of University Health System, San Antonio; and Richard Sage, PE, CCM, of Sound Transit.

Dr. Turnquist was honored for her innovative management and leadership of the Omaha Public Schools 2014 Bond Program, providing more than $420 million for a wide range of school improvements and new construction. She has relied on professional construction managers and program managers, and advanced alternative project delivery methods to improve schedule and cost outcomes.Ìý

In addition, Dr. Turnquist created many opportunities for Omaha’s Small Emerging Businesses to participate in this important design and construction program. She has also committed to a district-wide Green Schools Initiative, and numerous district schools have been awarded the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon.Ìý
